Pierced Glasses

admin on Jul 18th 2006

Ok, so this is one of THE STRANGEST things I’ve come across in a long time. Pierced Glasses! Yup, you read that right. I haven’t included a pic but you can view this phenomenon by clicking the link. It kind of made my stomach turn, so if you’re queasy, don’t look.

Apparently these guys were tired of traditional eye glasses pressing on their ears and decided to do something about it.

God bless creative ability! I’m all for individual expression, let’s just hope this doesn’t become popular in the jr. high crowd… that would make for some interesting yearbook pics.

I don’t have any new candles to report about this month, however, I would like to introduce a new program I’ve been thinking about. The world we live in today can be chaotic and full of struggles. I recently gave birth to my third child, and it has been difficult to juggle being a wife, business owner, and working mother. Finding a balance is not easy and it seems that some days the world is just out to kick you in the teeth. I was having a “I’m feeling sorry for myself as my life is so awful” moment the other day when I got a great wake up call from “the universe”, God, whatever you want to call the higher power that runs things..

In my neighborhood there is a young man named Andy. I was standing in my living room, trying to get ready for my day, the kids were running amuck, the baby was crying, I had a zillion things to accomplish, and I was feeling my blood pressure rising.

I happened to glance out my window, and saw Andy doing his daily exercises. He was cruising up the street, backwards. Andy always is outside, circling the block exercising, rain, sleet or sun. We live on a street with an incline, and though you might think that’s not a big deal here’s the kicker. Andy is in a wheelchair. He’s paralyzed from the waist down.

Seeing him pushing himself up the street backwards made me stop and realize how good my life really was. It also gave me an inspiration. Often times my customers will write to me about how much they love our products. I have wondered about what was going on in their lives, why they wanted the candles, what my candles “see” in the homes they end up in. I think a lot about the people behind the candles, and send out positive energy and blessings with each order I craft.

Starting now, I’d love to hear your inspirational stories, and feature them in my monthly newsletter. It can be your story, your families story, or a stranger’s story. Keep the names the same or change them if you feel it’s necessary. Each month, we’ll pick a story and feature it below. I’d also like to send the winner a complimentary candle, as a gift for sharing. Hopefully we can inspire each other, and add some brightness and hope to our lives.

Warm Regards,

-Jen
